SPRING 2023 REC SEASON Registration is NOW OPEN
Want to give lacrosse a try, work on your game, learn something new and have FUN with your friends?
Sarasota Youth Lacrosse (SYL) and Lakewood Ranch Youth Lacrosse (LRYL) is a community-centered youth lacrosse program “little league” or recreation style platform for boys and girls 5 – 14 to learn and fine tune their lacrosse skills during the Spring season. Our aim is to assist lacrosse players who want to learn more about the sport and have fun while playing lacrosse with friends. Our goal is for players to build confidence in their game as they aspire to compete at the highest level. We are excited to be a member of the Florida Gulf Coast Lacrosse League where our teams have the opportunity to compete against other area rec teams and test the skills they learn during the Spring season. All players will be required to have a current USA Lacrosse membership. All coaches will be background screened.
SPRING SEASON: Practices begin in January. Weekly practices will be held in the evening with scrimmage style practices & games played on Saturday mornings. Season will run through April. **Travel within the SunCoast area is involved for a few rec-style tournaments and those dates will be confirmed prior to season.

Gulf Coast Lacrosse (GCL) is a non-profit community-based organization in Sarasota, FL with the mission to promote the development and growth of youth & high school lacrosse through an inclusive, safe, affordable and fun environment.
Three Programs. One Mission: to grow the game of lacrosse and provide young athletes an inclusive, safe, affordable and fun place to learn the sport and the love of the game!
1. COMMUNITY RECREATION LEAGUE – SARAOTA and LAKEWOOD RANCH
2. SKILL DEVELOPMENT
3. TRAINING / CLINICS / EDUCATION – for coaches, players, referees, parent & player enrichment
Most of the local area high schools in Sarasota County and nearby have boys and girls lacrosse programs, however, there are not many affordable elementary and middle school options available to kids who would otherwise try lacrosse. Our rec-style and volunteer-based program is geared towards Sarasota area youth who would appreciate an opportunity to try lacrosse in an inclusive, safe, affordable and fun environment. Young players will learn the rules of the game, build confidence and self-esteem, develop social skills, and gain an understanding of teamwork, coordination and athletic skills necessary to play competitive lacrosse. The goal is for elementary and middle school aged student athletes to pick up the sport of lacrosse, learn the fundamentals, and find a love of the game so that they are primed and ready to play for their high school freshman year!
Our programs are supported through grants, donations, sponsorships and with the help of volunteers, to ensure that any fees will be nominal to our players. DONATE TODAY!
Special THANKS to TRUE LACROSSE, our Spring 2023 Corporate Sponsor!
Would you like to join our fun and exciting program?
We LOVE our laxers, however, no lacrosse experience is necessary to come join in on the fun!
*Gulf Coast Lacrosse is happy to accept both corporate sponsorships and individual donations to help defray the annual expenses. If you are interested in sponsoring or donating to GCL, please contact us: gulfcoastlax.srq@gmail.com.
